FC St. Pauli slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Werder Bremen in an evenly balanced final home game of the year on Saturday evening. A packed Millerntor saw Derrick Köhn and Marvin Ducksch strike for the visitors, whose greater efficiency in front of goal proved telling in the end.

After five home games without a win or a goal, the Boys in Brown picked up their first three points at the Millerntor on Friday as the floodgates finally opened against Kiel. Hardly surprising, then, that the mood in the camp was ecstatic after the game.

FC St. Pauli collected their first home win of the season on Friday evening, deservedly beating fellow promoted side Holstein Kiel by three goals to one Strikes from Manolis Saliakas, Morgan Guilavogui and Johannes Eggestein ended the five-game home goal drought in front of a sell-out crowd at the Millerntor, with Phil Harres replying for the visitors late on. Nikola Vasilj also saved a Jann-Fiete Arp penalty on the stroke of half-time.
