Weißhaupt: "Definitely big points for us"

A convincing 3-0 defeat of Union Berlin made it two wins on the bounce for the Boys in Brown on Sunday. The mood in the mixed zone was buoyant, then, after another solid team performance.

Head coach Alexander Blessin: "We went into the game a little differently and let Union have the ball, which worked very well. We wanted to win possession from a solid base and that's what led to the first goal. We were more confident after we went in front. We carried on probing and became more assured. We deservedly got a second and apart from one header we kept Union away from our goal. The win feels good, but we know what to make of it. We can enjoy the feeling today, but the focus will turn to Augsburg from tomorrow."

Morgan Guilavogui: "I'm really happy, especially for the team. We wanted to get our second home win and that's what we did. I scored two goals and made another. That's brilliant, it was a great evening for me. I'm always glad when I can help the team. It has the highest priority for me."

Hauke Wahl: "We're delighted to have won two games in succession. We hadn't managed that so far this season. It helps when we sit back. It's hard for any team to breach our bulwark then. We support each other and it isn't easy to play against us. They're the attributes we need to have for 90 minutes. We're pushed to the limit, especially at home, which is why it was worthwhile today."

Noah Weißhaupt: "To start in front of our own fans was so much fun. It gave me more power. The fans urged us forward every time we won a tackle. It was great to see. They're definitely big points for us and we've opened up a bit of a gap. We can take another step forward against Augsburg next week and so we'll be going flat out again."

James Sands: "It feels great to win at home. The fans are unbelievable and it's a really special feeling. It was a very good team performance today. I feel I'm growing with every game and there are still more things I can learn."

Jackson Irvine: "The focus was on the defensive aspect of our play. We exert a lot of pressure when we can but like to sit a bit deeper then. Defensively I can't praise the team highly enough. James was absolutely outstanding today and I can't praise Noah highly enough either. Obviously we have a top keeper who's having a brilliant season. And it was a top performance from Morgan as well. That's the decisive factor at this level. The second goal pleased me the most."

Steffen Baumgart (Union Berlin head coach): "The first 20 minutes were decent but we lost our way after the opening goal. There were two situations for Jordan and Hollerbach where we could have come back into it but we didn't. The last two goals in particular were preventable, which is annoying. The way we played in the last 70 minutes was not what we wanted to show."
