"At the moment there are little things that make the difference"

As in the game against Heidenheim, our Boys in Brown produced a good performance at Union Berlin for large parts of the game but were left empty-handed after the final whistle again. After the game, the Boys in Brown looked back at the 90 minutes played with mixed feelings once again.

Head coach Alexander Blessin: "It was the hard-fought game we expected. We had great plans and started well and I was very happy with the first 30 minutes. We had more possession then and Union sat back in a block. We played through the first line well. What we missed was conviction in the final third. It's difficult to find solutions when the opposition is so compact. You need good movement up the pitch and we didn't have that. We played well up to conceding the goal and that put us off course and on top of that there was the injury to Eric. We are sad about the defeat but we can build on the performance. It's the second game with a goal conceded from a set piece, we have to deal better with that and simply defend better."

Hauke Wahl: "We lost because we conceded one more goal. We didn't have a bad game and it was an evenly balanced match. It was similar to last week and again we don't have any points. At the moment there are little things that make the difference. There are things that we don't pull our away and we don't have that necessary bit of luck. With the goal we conceded we have to defend better. It was the third goal conceded from a set piece and obviously that can't happen in the league. We want to pick up points and we want to start with that after the international break."

Johannes Eggestein: "We kept the game open for long periods. Conceding the goal from a set piece is annoying. We applied a lot of pressure in the last 30 minutes and more or less dominated possession. What was missing were the clear-cut chances. In the first half we lacked precision in finishing. We did keep getting into the final third but then couldn't move the ball on to possibly create new situations. If you play backwards again and again and have start the build-up again then there are no new situations and no gaps. We did better after half-time when we looked to take on one-on one situations. We have to keep working on being more efficient."

Philipp Treu: "We had a good away game, which isn't easy at the Alte Försterei. We did well in the first 30 minutes although we couldn't make the final pass. Then we went behind and that was a blow. Then you're running after the game and Union can defend it. We can't reproach ourselves. We tried everything. The introduction of Elias and Dapo gave as a boost. We can take positives from the game. We can survive in the Bundesliga if we carry on. We have to pose more threats on goal and score goals. The international break gives us time to carry on training our moves and routines."

Adam Dźwigała: "With my overhead kick I couldn't see the goal but I felt I'd caught the ball well. I hoped it would go in but unfortunately it didn't. Overall there were a couple of things where we need to improve. We have to create more chances to be able to score. And again we've conceded a goal from a dead ball. There it's about concentration and being ready to block a shot like that."
