FCSP HELD 3-3 BY TEUTONIA 05

One day after the goal fest against the Celle Select XI, Jos Luhukay's side travelled to Winsen for the second friendly of pre-season against Teutonia 05, whose winning video earned them the privilege of facing the Boys in Brown as part of the #congstarchallenge. After 90 minutes in the scorching heat, the game ended in a 3-3 draw. Christopher Buchtmann and Dimitrios Diamantakos (2) got the goals.

The first warning shot was fired by Finn Ole Becker in the sixth minute. His 20-metre effort missed the target by inches. New recruit Boris Tashchy did find the net four minutes later, but the goal was ruled out, Yiyoung Park being adjudged offside before delivering the assist. The game remained an entertaining affair and Kevin Lankford and Christopher Buchtmann both had opportunities to open the scoring, as did Patrick Eggert for Teutonia. The respective keepers were having none of it, though, producing some excellent stops to keep it at 0-0.

A goal was in the air, but it was the fifth-tier side who claimed it in the 32nd minute, Kevin Krottke converting a low cross from close range. The Boys in Brown fashioned some decent chances in search of an equaliser, which eventually came in first-half stoppage time. Christopher Buchtmann found the back of the net from the edge of the box to make it 1-1.

The game exploded into life just after the restart. Dimitrios Diamantakos made it 2-1 with a fine effort on 47, only for Teutonia to hit back from a corner two minutes later, Christopher Avevor putting the ball through his own net. After a further two minutes the Boys in Brown found themselves back in front. Christian Conteh was brought down in the box and Diamantakos stepped up to convert the spot kick with aplomb.

Luhukay's side were denied victory ten minutes from time when Andre Müller was sent clear following a neat one-two and curled a shot into the top corner to make it 3-3.

Match reaction

Jos Luhukay: "The result isn't important. What matters is how the lads played. It was much tougher than yesterday because Teutonia did a good job. They defended deep and were well organised. In the first half we lacked a cutting edge in the final third. We gave the ball away too often to create any decent openings. In the second half it was better, especially in the first 20, but if you don't see it through, you give the opposition a chance to get back into it. We don't like conceding three goals but all in all the lads left a good impression. It's pre-season and the warm-up matches are there to gain new insights."

Waldemar Sobota: "Obviously we're not happy with the result. We played yesterday but that's no excuse. We only put some of what the boss wanted to see into practice."

Marvin Knoll: "The first half was tough. It was a small pitch and our opponents pressured us late. We didn't get in behind them very often, which meant we didn't create that many chances, and we didn't keep the tempo as high as we wanted to. Teutonia did well tactically. They have some good players and so it was a decent test for us at this stage of the preparations."
