"SAMI AND HENK WON IT FOR US" – THE POST-MATCH REACTION

The Boys in Brown extended their unbeaten run with a 3-1 win over SV Sandhausen – thanks to two late goals from Sami Allagui and Christopher Buchtmann. Only natural, then, that the mood in the camp was ecstatic after the final whistle.

Director of sport Uwe Stöver: "We were really in the game in the first 20 to 25 minutes. Basically, that's the kind of football we want to see. Then came the cut. We were asking them to score for 50 minutes and eventually that's what they did. All of sudden the players stepped up a gear again and were determined to win it. We saw two different levels of performance from us today, but we're delighted to have won the game."

Sami Allagui: "Scoring a goal is always a good feeling – even more so when it's a decisive one. We started well but then lost our way. We simply can't allow that to happen."

Henk Veerman: "The substitutions had an effect, as they did in the last home game. If I can help the team from the bench, that's OK for me at the moment. I had to backheel the ball to Sami, as it was the only option. It came off as well."

Johannes Flum: "I'm pleased for Sami! Being able to bring him and Henk Veerman on says a lot about the quality and depth of the squad. After a good first half we didn't play well in the second. You always believe you can win, of course, but as the second half wore on I wasn't expecting it to end 3-1. You can't always explain everything in football. It's good to get the three points going into the international break, of course."

Philipp Ziereis: "We played well and went flat out in the first half. I can't explain why we surrendered control of the game in the second half, but it's great that we can make the decisive changes from the bench. That's partly what makes us stand out. We've now taken ten points out of twelve from the last four games. Compliments to the team, even though we can't be satisfied with the performance. I had a brief bust-up with Flumi. These are the emotions that occur during a game and eventually boil over. We then high-fived each other and everything was OK again."

Robin Himmelmann: "We began very well and didn't give much away after taking the lead. For some reason we were too passive after the interval, perhaps because we lacked strength after some high-intensity weeks. As we saw, things can always happen when you can add so much power from the bench. We've put ourselves in a good position now and are happy to take the points."

Marvin Knoll: "We were in the game really well in the first 25 minutes. We played some explosive football and took the fans with us but then we lost our way. Nothing was going right after the break but as in the last home game we made some good substitutions and Sami and Henk won it for us. Henk is a tower of strength up front and his introduction relieved the pressure. We had more chances as a result. A draw might have been a fairer result when you look at the two halves, but that's football."
