FC St. Pauli can announce a winter recruit for the flanks. Attacking player Noah Weißhaupt has joined the Boys in Brown on loan from Bundesliga club SC Freiburg after director of sport Andreas Bornemann agreed terms with officials representing the Black Forest outfit.
Weißhaupt, 23, learned his trade in the SC Freiburg youth academy and has been a member of the club's senior squad since the 2021/22 season. He has made 55 appearances in the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, contributing one goal and seven assists along the way, plus 14 appearances in the Europa League (one goal). Added to this are 11 outings for Germany at Under-18, Under-20 and Under-21 level.
Reaction to the deal
Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "This signing gives us more attacking options on the wing and will make us harder to predict in future. Noah enjoyed a very good footballing education and as well as dynamism has the flexibility to play on both flanks. He has lots of experience at Bundesliga level, which is why we're convinced he can do well for us straightaway."
Head coach Alexander Blessin: "Noah has lots of pace that he makes intelligence use of in one on ones and is a constant source of problems for opposition defences, so we think Noah will help us create a bigger threat and more drive in front of goal because he's very good at creating openings for his teammates with his balls into the middle."
Noah Weißhaupt: "I'm looking forward to my time in Hamburg and playing in front of the fans at the Millerntor. I think I'll find very good conditions at FC St. Pauli for taking the next step in my development. It's worked very well for other players from Freiburg, after all. The task now is to settle into my new surroundings as quicky as possible to stake a claim for some playing time."
