Morgan Guilavogui proved the matchwinner with his brace in the 3-0 home defeat of Union Berlin, and in the run-up to the visit of FC Augsburg the forward sat down with the media to answer questions.
Morgan Guilavogui on…
...his performance against Union Berlin, with two goals and an assist: "It was a team performance. I'm always happy when I can help the team and score goals. Scoring goals is good but the priority is the team. We want to win games and pick up points to stay in the Bundesliga."
...the increased competition in attack: "Positives attract positives. We're in the fortunate position of having very good attacking players who all can help. We've all played football since we were small. We're used to the competition and know the best players play in the end. It's an incentive for me to keep performing."
...tips from brother Josuha and his nine Bundesliga goals: "He called me after the Union game to congratulate me on my goals and also on the game itself. He's always there for me and gives me lots of support. My bother tells me where I need to improve and that I have to keep the mentality of wanting to work harder. I can help the team get better results like that. My brother spent 10 years in the Bundesliga but it's my first, and though I have my eye on the mark set by my brother, the team is more important than any personal record."
...the strong progress made by individual players this season: "The club started with a new coach and it was a new league for all of us. We all had new tasks to master, and we worked together as a team. It took some time but you can see from the performances that we're working hard. We have to keep doing that to be successful and collect as many points as possible."
...the home game against Augsburg: "We always aim to win games, of course, and we're delighted to have won the last two. We hadn't managed that before and now we want to make it three wins out of three. We're at home again and want to win again."
...the atmosphere at the Millerntor: "We enjoy it every home game. The Millerntor is always full and our fans are always behind us in good moments and bad. We feel the support of the fans and it's great to have that backing."
...his loan deal, which expires in summer: "I came to FC St. Pauli because I found the project very interesting. It's a project with an ambitious goal and that has top priority. I'm 100 per cent focused on FC St. Pauli. We'll see what happens in summer."
