BOYS IN BROWN START PRE-SEASON WITH A BANG

Goals from Waldemar Sobota (2), Ryo Miyaichi, Sami Allagui, Luca Zander, Jan-Marc Schneider, Christopher Buchtmann (2), Maurice Litka, Cenk Sahin and Yi-young Park gave the Boys in Brown an 11-0 win at Buxtehuder SV in their first pre-season warm-up game on Saturday afternoon.

In a lively opening quarter of an hour some neat passing moves created opportunities for Ryo Miyaichi (twice), Jan-Philipp Kalla, Waldemar Sobota and Brian Koglin, while at the other end the lightning-quick Rabil Msalemi drilled a shot over the top for the home side on five minutes.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 16th minute when Sobota tried his luck from distance and found the top corner with a lovely effort. With that, the floodgates were opened. Miyaichi rounded off a flowing move with the second 60 seconds later before Sami Allagui grabbed his first goal in St. Pauli colours on 19. With the Boys in Brown now firmly in control, Sobota added a fourth in the 31st minute.

When the second half kicked off Richard Neudecker was the only player left on the field from the first. It didn't take long for the rejigged side to find their rhythm, however, new boy Luca Zander contributing his first goal in the brown-and-white colours five minutes in. Olaf's Janssen's side showed no intention of taking things easy in their first pre-season outing and threatened repeatedly before Jan-Marc Schneider made it 6-0 on the hour.

There was to be no let-up in the final half-hour either, and with the home side starting to flag Christopher Buchtmann, Maurice Litka and Cenk Sahin added three more goals between the 67th and 72nd minutes. Yi-Young Park tapped home to make it 10-0 from a Litka free-kick on 75 and with three minutes remaining Christopher Buchtmann notched his second of the day to make it 11-0.

Lasse Sobiech: "Today was about gelling in terms of our running and passing and developing an understanding with the new signings. Not everything comes off in the first game, of course, but we did a good job. We've played here in Buxtehude on a decent pitch and against fair opponents quite often – all in all it was a very good warm-up."

Sami Allagui: "It was a fantastic feeling to run out with the team for the first team. It was a good run-out today and a great session. Personally, I was very happy to get my first goal for St. Pauli, as I generally am when I score, whether it's a competitive fixture or a warm-up game."

Waldemar Sobota: "We wanted to get as many shots in as possible and it worked very well, as you saw. We aim to carry on right where we left off last season and so that was a very good start today."

Head coach Olaf Janssen: "There were some nice passing moves in there and we tried to play some football. We worked very hard in the first week of training and you could tell the lads were feeling the effects of that, of course, but the only thing that could have been slightly better was our finishing."
