Long layoff for Saad after surgery

FC St. Pauli will be without Elias Saad for longer than feared after the forward underwent surgery in Munich on Monday. The operation was necessary because the healing process after the injury he picked up against Mainz did not progress as expected.
The 24-year-old Tunisia international sustained a ligament injury in his right ankle after being fouled by an opponent near the touchline just before the end of the game with the score at 3-0 to the visitors.
As a conservative treatment approach over the last two weeks did not yield the hoped-for results, an operation was required. It remains to be seen how long Saad will be sidelined.
