DIFFERENT FACE NEEDED AGAINST LEAGUE LEADERS KIEL

Just three days after the hefty 4-0 home reverse against FC Ingolstadt, St. Pauli return to league action at surprise leaders Holstein Kiel on Tuesday evening (kick-off: 1830 CET). The Boys in Brown aim to show a different face in the Schleswig-Holstein capital and erase Saturday's defeat from the memory.

"It's good that it's only three days until the next game and we have the opportunity to put the defeat behind us," was the general tenor after the bitterly disappointing 4-0 reverse against Ingolstadt, a view that drew out the positive aspect of a hectic league schedule. Olaf Janßen's side have had to go over the defeat and quickly draw a line under it in order to focus totally on Tuesday's game at Kiel.

The Boys in Brown are keen to show a different face at the league leaders. Against the division's most potent attacking force they will have to maintain a tight defensive unit, something they frequently neglected to do against Ingolstadt. Janßen also emphasised the need to avoid the many simple mistakes his team made on Saturday if they are to hold their own at Kiel.

Things couldn't be going better for Markus Anfang's men at the moment. Since the 2-2 draw against Sandhausen on the opening day and a 4-3 defeat at Union Berlin a week later, his newly promoted Kiel side have beaten Braunschweig in the DFB Cup and racked up four league wins in a row against Fürth (3-1), Regensburg (2-1), Kaiserslautern (2-1) and Aue (3-0). And with Düsseldorf losing 3-1 at Fürth on Sunday, the Storks moved to the top of the second division table for the first time in their history.

Janßen's defence will have to pay particular attention to loanee Marvin Ducksch, whose brace at Aue on Friday took him to five goals for the season already. "We can't afford to take our eyes off Marvin for a second," said the St. Pauli boss of the league's leading scorer. "He's constantly looking to score."

Marc Hornschuh, who has started every game this season, has a back problem and will miss Tuesday's game. Also unavailable are Christopher Buchtmann (knee) and Philipp Ziereis (thigh). Lasse Sobiech could be a candidate for the starting lineup after his 21-minute runout against Ingolstadt, while a question mark remains over the fitness of midfielder Mats Møller Dæhli (muscle trouble).
