Contract extension signed with Jackson Irvine

FC St. Pauli has further committed to continuity and again signed an early contract extension with captain Jackson Irvine. Sporting director Andreas Bornemann and the Australian international have agreed to extend his deal with the club, which originally ran until summer 2025.

Irvine had already extended his contract once before in October 2022, having joined FC St. Pauli in July 2021. Since then, the 31-year-old has made 97 competitive appearances for the Boys in Brown, scoring 15 goals and providing 15 assists. Last season, Irvine led the team as captain to the second-tier title and promotion to the Bundesliga. Since 2013, Irvine has also been part of the Australian national side, getting ten goals and nine assists in 69 matches.

Comments on the contract extension:

Sporting director Andreas Bornemann: "I'm very pleased that we’ve been able to agree ahead of time with Jackson to continue working together. He's a central part of the axis that the team's built around, and continuity in those key positions is very important for us. Jackson's qualities as a leader and top performer are by now in any case well-known. He also identifies incredibly with the club and uniquely embodies its values."

Head coach Alexander Blessin: "Jackson is an immensely important player for us in a lot of different areas. He leads on the pitch both verbally and with his performances and, as the captain, is my primary point of contact within the team. With his presence both on the ground and in the air he’s a key factor in our play at both ends of the pitch. His great experience will undoubtedly benefit both us and his team-mates in what for most is a new league.”."

Jackson Irvine: "When I extended my contract for the first time two years ago, I already said that I felt incredibly at home in Hamburg and at FC St. Pauli. That hasn't changed and that's why I also see my future here. I would like to thank everyone who has supported the team and me during this time. We have already achieved a lot together, but now I am ready to give even more as we move into a new and exciting phase of this journey."
