BUBALLA BEMOANS LACK OF CONVICTION

The Boys in Brown put in a decent performance for long periods on the final day at Fürth and were unfortunate to lose 2-1. Speaking in the mixed zone after the game, the players expressed their frustration over missed chances and a late goal for the home side.

Sami Allagui: "We played very well in the first half but didn't get our reward. After the break we went behind from a set piece but scored a nice goal straightaway to level it up. The sending-off played into Fürth's hands but we kept battling to the end. We're all disappointed. I'm gutted the results elsewhere mean we only finish ninth and not sixth. The fans were superb again today, they cheered us on from start to finish. I'd like to thank FC St. Pauli, and especially the fans, the team and the backroom staff. I've had two fantastic years and would have liked us to have been more successful. I'd like to wish the club all the best for the future."

Daniel Buballa: "To begin with, I'm very disappointed. After the sending-off we tried to salvage the point. We were almost there but then went to sleep from a set piece in the 92nd minute. We shouldn't be happening. In the second half we lacked total conviction both in defence and attack, but in the last four games we've showed we can play to a good level. We were the dominant team in every match really. We defended well and created chances, we just didn't claim our reward."

Justin Hoogma: "The first half was OK today. Like last week, we should have scored but didn't and it's bitterly disappointing to concede the two goals from set pieces. It shouldn't happen. I'm gutted."

Robin Himmelmann: "In view of the way the game went it's very unsatisfactory to be going home with no points. I think we did a really good job with ten men. Fürth created chances and that's OK, but I didn't sense any major pressure from them. At the end we tried to go flat out again and were just a whisker from scoring ourselves. It's annoying, but we go home having lost. That's the way it is. It's been a season of two halves. Ultimately, though, we can't complain about our final placing."

Jan-Philipp Kalla: "The medical department have kept patching me up in recent weeks and it's always been enough for the next game. They'd be sure to get me ready for next weekend as well, but we have a break now. We'll have to see whether I need to do rehab or a therapy. I can think of nicer ways of spending the summer break than in rehab. Regarding the game, the outcome is very modest. Conceding in the last minute has cost us places in the table. It's annoying, but I think we gave another good account of ourselves today."
