FC St. Pauli

With several goalkeepers sidelined long-term due to injury, the Boys in Brown responded by bringing in Oelschlägel, an experienced shot-stopper who before joining FC Emmen was on the books of Eredivisie outfit FC Utrecht, having previously played for the second teams of Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen. The 29-year-old has made 36 Eredivisie appearances plus another 67 in the German third division.

Reaction to the deal 

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "In Eric we have signed an experienced goalkeeper who can help us right away in this challenging situation. He's accustomed to a high level from his spells in the Netherlands and has the composure and experience we need in this position. We're convinced he'll be a valuable addition to the team."

Head coach Alexander Blessin: "Eric will assume an important role in our goalkeeper team and help us right away. He has many of the attributes we were looking for and his experience stands him in good stead in many aspects of the goalkeeping game. He has lots of quality on the line and in one-on-ones."

Eric Oelschlägel: "I'm very much looking forward to the challenge at FC St. Pauli. After my time in the Netherlands it's a great feeling to be back playing in Germany and especially at a club with so much heritage. I'm ready to play my part to make the team successful."
