FC St. Pauli sign forward Elias Saad

FC St. Pauli have added to their attacking options with the acquisition of Elias Saad from Eintracht Norderstedt. The 22-year-old forward has already scored ten goals and made another three in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Nord this season.

Saad has also found the net three times in the Hamburg Cup. The winger moved from Barmbek-Uhlenhorst to Eintracht Norderstedt in 2021, having previously played for Buxtehuder SV. The official transfer window does not open until the new year. Saad will hook up with the club when training resumes to be eased into the professional setup.

Reaction to the deal

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Elias Saad is a player we've been watching for some time. We see a lot of potential for development in him, which makes him a perfect fit for our concept."

Head coach Timo Schultz: "I always enjoy working with young, developing players. Elias Saad brings a lot of pace and has demonstrated his goal threat in the Regionalliga. The task now is to transfer that to the second division."

Elias Saad: "I'm very happy to be able to play for FC St. Pauli in the future. As a Hamburg lad, I've known the club since I was small. The club has shown it offers young players the opportunity and the surroundings in which to progress. Signing professional terms is a dream come true for me. I'm now setting my next targets, which include running out for FC St. Pauli at the Millerntor."
