Europa League winners Atalanta Bergamo to come to the Millerntor

The final warm-up match before the Bundesliga gets underway promises to be a genuine highlight. Under new boss Alexander Blessin, who will be making his Millerntor debut, the Boys in Brown will play host to Europa League winners Atalanta Bergamo on Friday, 9 August.

Kick-off against the side who finished fourth in Serie A last season is at 18.30 CET. Ticket information will follow in due course. Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 just a few weeks ago to win the Europa League for the first time, the biggest success in the club's history.

Ademola Lookman (here under challenge from Leverkusen's Exequiel Palacios) scored all three goals for Bergamo in the Europa League final.

The game takes the number of confirmed pre-season friendlies to four. Fourth-tier Bremer SV provide the opposition in Malente on Saturday, 13 July (15.30 CET) before the Boys in Brown take on second-division Greuther Fürth at their Austrian training camp on Friday, 19 July (18.00 CET). And on Saturday, 3 August, the Blessin XI are in England at the home of Championship outfit Norwich City.
