Etienne Amenyido sat down with the media on Tuesday to talk about the forthcoming home game against Darmstadt, among other things.
Etienne Amenyido on…
…processing the Sandhausen game: "We drew a line under it today at the latest. It was obviously a gutting moment that hurt us a lot. I do think we would have deserved the win, but that's football, we have to look forward now."
…the home game against Darmstadt: "We got off to an unfortunate start in the reverse fixture and went behind early on. The first half didn't go the way we wanted, but Darmstadt definitely have gaps for us to exploit, as we saw in their last game when they conceded five."
…the team's body language: "We have to go back to basics and keep pushing and being there for one another. We need to be more confident in possession and then we'll stop making the mistakes."
…the mood in the camp: "We've drawn a line under our previous games, we have the next one ahead of us and are still in a great position. Everyone knows we have to go up another gear. We have to give it everything we have in the run-in and are giving 100 percent in training with that in mind."
…the No10 role: "I try to get involved in the game by making lots of deep runs and making the pitch a bit bigger. I want to keep doing that and play as well as possible."
…his injury: "It's never easy and it did affect me, but I'm back on the pitch now, looking ahead and fighting my way back into contention. I aim to work my way back to where I was at the start of the year."
…dirty wins: "Sometimes you have to win dirty as well, and Sandhausen would have been one such game. We can play better, though, and are capable of putting games to bed early or seeing them out with confidence. You have to put in the odd sliding tackle or knock it long occasionally, of course, but as long we win in the end that's the most important thing."
…home advantage: "We look forward to the home games with the fans. The atmosphere motivates us, gives us a couple of per cent more and can definitely help us on to victory."
…the big games against other promotion contenders: "These are the moments you play football for. If you win them, you're twice as happy. We have to do our job, we're all looking forward to the games ahead."
…the dream of promotion: "We all have goals and want to achieve certain things and promotion to the Bundesliga is definitely among them. We work hard every day to achieve our objective."
