Da Silva Moreira joins Nottingham Forest

Eric da Silva Moreira will be a Nottingham Forest player next season. The 18-year-old right-sided defender rose through the club's youth ranks from 2015 and made his senior debut in the 2-0 win at Nürnberg last season when he came on as a late substitute.

Da Silva Moreira made ten appearances for the Under-23s in the fourth-tier Regionalliga North (one goal, one assist) and another four for the Under-19s in the Under-19 Bundesliga North/Northeast (three goals). He was a member of the Germany Under-17 side that won the World Cup in late 2023 and now makes the move to the Premier League.

The two clubs have agreed not to disclose any details of the transfer.

Reaction to the deal

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Eric grew up at FC St. Pauli. He received an excellent education in our youth academy and gained some initial experience at the senior level for the Under-23s at an early age. He also made his first-team debut last season. We respect Eric's wish to take the next step at Nottingham Forest and wish him all the best for the future."

Eric da Silva Moreira: "It's obviously difficult for me to leave FC St. Pauli after all this time, but after celebrating my 18th birthday, passing my school leaving exams and making my first appearances at senior level, I'd like to take on a completely new challenge and show what I can do in England. I'd like to thank FC St. Pauli for the excellent education in the youth academy and the opportunity to gain some initial experience at senior level for the Under-23s and in the first-team squad."
