Muhammad Dahaba signs professional terms

FC St. Pauli have handed defender Muhammad Dahaba a professional contract. The 19-year-old has been playing for the club's Under-23 and Under-19 teams but trained regularly with the senior squad last season. Dahaba also attended the winter training camp in Benidorm earlier in the year and featured in several friendlies for the first team.

Dahaba learned his trade in the club's youth academy, progressing through the ranks to the Under-23s. In 46 appearances for the Under-19s he scored one goal and contributed one assist. Dahaba also played in seven times for the Under-23s in the fourth-tier Regionalliga Nord.

Reaction to the deal:

Director of sport Andreas Bornemann: "Muhammad made excellent use of the opportunity to show himself in the senior squad. We're delighted Muhammad wants to take the next steps in his development with us. We aim to continue offering our young players the opportunity to prove themselves at senior level."

Muhammad Dahaba: "I really appreciate the trust FC St. Pauli has placed in me in giving me this contract, especially as I've spent 12 years in the youth setup here. I see it as confirmation of my efforts and it's also an incentive to keep working hard on my game. I aim to make the most of the opportunity to develop in this team."
