FC ST. PAULI AGREES SOLIDARITY PACKAGE

Given these challenging times, which bring so much uncertainty due to the broad ramifications of the coronavirus and, as a result, little planning certainty, the professional squad, the director of sport and the coaching team, and the senior and middle management of the club have agreed a solidarity package that includes a pro-rata wage cut until 30 June 2020.

The players had already signalled a willingness to show solidarity as soon as the initial COVID-19 restrictions were imposed. Nevertheless, the club deliberately took its time to ascertain the need and develop tailored solutions.

"For us there was never any doubt that we could only come out of this together and we hope we can minimise the impact on our club with the solidarity package. At the same time, it was also important not to make any blanket demands, but rather to strive to find tailored solutions, as the players had intended," said Sportchef Andreas Bornemann.

A large part of the agreed solidarity package will be added to the hardship pot for club employees hit particularly badly by short-time working, with the rest being used for the benefit of the club.

Club president Oke Göttlich said: "Showing solidarity is part of the identity of FC St. Pauli but still I'm delighted by the great willingness to help demonstrated both inside and outside the club – be it the management, coaching team, players, employees as well as our partners and season ticket holders. It's a strong signal in these challenging times and I'd like to say a big thank you."
