CARSTENS COMMITS TO 2022

FC St. Pauli have handed 19-year-old defender Florian Carstens a professional contract that will run until 30 June 2022 and includes an option for an additional season.

"With his progress and performances with the senior side, Florian has absolutely earned this contract extension," said director of sport Uwe Stöver. "We're delighted to continue being a part of his development long term."

Head coach Markus Kauczinski also expressed his delighted at committing the central defender to a long-term deal: "Flo offers a host of good attributes, such as pace, aerial ability and a good passing game, which are important in his position. On his senior debut at Aue he more than held his own. He's made good progress with us and we hope that will continue."

For Carstens, the deal marks a continuation of a successful journey with the Boys in Brown: "I'm delighted to be given the chance to continue my development at this special club and will do all I can to get more playing time. I've built up a close bond with the club over the last four years and I'm delighted to be spending more time at St. Pauli."

The centre-back joined the club's Under-17s from MTV Lüneburg and has made three first-team appearances so far this season.
