"I MIGHT NOT BE THE BOSS, BUT TODAY WE'RE GOING TO CELEBRATE" – THE POST-MATCH REACTION

The sense of relief in the St. Pauli camp was palpable after the home win over Arminia Bielefeld and the guarantee of second division safety. We spoke to some very happy players after the final whistle.

Lasse Sobiech: "The fans were right behind us as soon as we got off the bus today. Today we showed we've faced up to the situation well. We gave little away at the back and the feeling on the pitch was good. What Yiyoung did when he scored was crazy. He demonstrated his quality today and I take my hat off to him. Huge compliments to Brian as well for playing so well. It was a storybook farewell for me today, even though I'd have wished for a more successful season, of course. I might not be the boss, but today we're going to celebrate!"

Robin Himmelmann: "Outstanding! We've invested a lot in the last few weeks and we were very tense before the game. It's all off our shoulders now. We're all very, very glad that one goal was enough to win it today."

Johannes Flum: "We fought brilliantly and gave little away today. Respect to the young players for doing such a good job."

Richard Neudecker: "It's a huge load off my mind. I've not slept well at all in recent weeks. In the last two games we showed we really wanted it."

Jan-Philipp Kalla: "It's a great relief to be playing in the second division again next season. We took a huge step forward against Fürth last week and today we went all the way to securing safety. We defended very well and got the ball forward nicely. The fans have been outstanding despite the way we've been playing and they've driven us forward. That was the key to the six points. We now want to win the final game at Duisburg."

Mats Møller Dæhli: "We played with a lot of heart and deserved to win thanks to an excellent team performance. It was so important to stay up, it means so much to our fans. They created an outstanding atmosphere yet again today. We did our bit with a good battling performance. It's hard for me to say goodbye because I love this club. We'll see what's next for me in the next few weeks."

Christopher Avevor: "It was a very tough game for us and lots of hard work. We did it with great fighting spirit and emotion. I was so happy when the final whistle went and I found out we were staying. The last ten minutes felt like hours. The fans have been a major factor in us staying up."

Bernd Nehrig: "I had a positive feeling all week. I take my hat off to my teammates for the work rate they showed in these conditions today. I'm really proud of the lads. It was a great fight. In the end, we totally deserve to stay up. You should never forget the big picture here."

Fabian Klos (Arminia Bielefeld): "We struggled to create opportunities today and we didn't take the chances we did have. St. Pauli had the one golden moment and we end up losing a game we really should have drawn."

Konstantin Kerschbaumer (Arminia Bielefeld): "St. Pauli didn't make it easy for us today but we had our chances. It was a game between two evenly matched teams and we would have deserved a point. We can be satisfied with our season, though, despite the defeat and we want to end it on a positive note next week."

Tom Schütz (Arminia Bielefeld): "We didn't get forward so well as in recent weeks but still had our opportunities. St. Pauli played well, though. In the second half we should have had a penalty. A thing like that can put you back in the game, but we didn't have the luck on our side today."
