Thanks for everything and all the best for the future, Eti!

Out-of-contract Etienne Amenyido is leaving the club after the three years in brown and white. The versatile attacking player was dogged by injuries in his time at the Millerntor, but when he was fit he always brought his strengths to the table. In 51 competitive appearances, Amenyido scored six goals and contributed six assists.

"In Etienne we have signed the kind of player we need for our playing philosophy. He's an outstanding addition to our quality in attack," said director of sport Andreas Bornemann when Amenyido was unveiled in June 2021. Yet the then 23-year-old was unable to show his quality from the off due to an Achilles tendon injury that ruled him out of the start of the 2021/22 campaign. The versatile, hard-working and dynamic forward eventually made his debut in the 4-0 home win over and his first competitive start a few weeks later in the 4-0 defeat at Darmstadt.

Amenyido's fitness improved steadily as the season wore on and he quickly rediscovered his old form, bursting onto the scene in early 2022 with four goals and three assists in five appearances. His first goal came in a 2-2 draw with Erzgebirge Aue and he followed it up with further strikes in the 2-1 home defeat of Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the DFB Cup and the games against Paderborn and Regensburg. The best phase of his three-year stint at the club was then brought to a halt by a calf injury, however. Adductor problems caused him to sit out the entire second half of his second season, in which the Boys in Brown piled on the wins under head coach Fabian Hürzeler.

Mentally, having to work on his return to fitness in rehab instead of alongside his teammates on the pitch was not easy for the attacking utility player. "The wins the lads racked up motivated me to get back into the team as soon as possible," the Herford-born player start at the start of last season. Strong performances from his teammates restricted him to the role of substitute, however, but with his efforts his training and his positive and refreshing nature he nevertheless made an important contribution to the club's promotion.

Many thanks for your all your hard work in the St. Pauli shirt, Eti! We wish you all the best for the future, both personally and professionally – and, most importantly, stay fit!

You'll never walk alone!!!
